I have granted flex time to employees in the past. It only works when the guidelines for it are clearly understood and benefit the employee and the business. It also has to be fair so there are no hard feelings from the other employees. Flex time helped the business because we had the ability to also ask the flex time employee to work a few additional hours now and again to cover heavy work times or vacations, with an employee who was full time you could not ask them to do that as easily. The women who were given the flex time were not "punished" they were still considered for promotion because they continued to show their leadership and advancement potential regardless of their hours.
