WHAMglobal is hosting a day-long symposium on cutting-edge research about the causes and conditions related to maternal and infant mortality. This symposium, which will occur on Monday, October 8th, was recently featured in a Pittsburgh Business Times article. Check out the article here: https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2018/07/25/magee-health-summit-to-bring-global-experts-award.html
The WHAMglobal symposium will precede the Magee-Women’s Research Summit (https://mageesummit.org/), taking place on October 9th and 10th.
Karen Feinstein, the president and CEO of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation, was quoted in the article by saying that the high rate of maternal mortality in the United States is “tragic and puzzling. It is higher than any developed country and one of the only countries, including developing ones, that is trending upward. This is quite a tragedy, and we can do better.”
